My bike needs an annual & 12000 service in the next few weeks, so thought Id ring round for a few quotes.
Well after ringing & leaving messages with SPC (also sent SPC email), Cooper reading & Park lane none of them could be bothered to reply, thanks guys, good to see BM* customer service is as crap as the rest. Really wanted to give Park lane the custom as they were really good at sorting my warranty work.

So my custom is going to North Oxford as they worked out about £60 cheaper than Vines.

SPC do not have a very good track record of answering email. I have sent several in the last 2 weeks before I finally received an email telling me they replied by letter. Guess what? No letter has appeared to date.

SPC really need to sort out their customer services policies (if they have one at all!!!).

I'm in business, although a different kind, but, from our experience, there's an awful lot of E mail timewasters out there. We endlessly get 'enquiries' about product, and we E mail a response back the same day, and yet hardly ever( almost never) does it result in a sale. I would imagine that these dealers get overwhelmed by non revenue generating enquiries, and short of employing an extra bod to deal with them exclusively, raising overheads still higher, treat them as low priority.
IMHO there's a way to go before retailers who aren't exclusively netty(Amazon etc) treat E mails with any seriousness, because of the ever increasing E Time-waster.

I'm sure this isn't what you guys want to hear, and it p*sses me off when I get no replies too, but it really is easier to phone, even if it's to Park lame...

In fact, I can offer a timely update! Sold my 1150 last week, and took £5K in cash down to Vines this morning, to bolster my deposit before I spent it on Crack/lapdancers et al. Stood there for ten minutes, totally ignored while the staff trawled back and forth for coffee etc. In the end shouted loudly' does nobody want to take my money then? (waving the cash). STILL IGNORED!!!!!

Maybe I should have sent an E mail...........

Yes, dance for me pretty lady, I still have £4990 left.............

Perhaps these busineses have bought Mycrosift's new "Time Waster Deleter™" software that uses complex mathmatical algorithms to simply know who is wasting their time by emailing and asking for details on a product they supposedly sell...

Of course, like all of Mycrosift's products it is shite and they lose any hope of ever selling anything to that person ever again, but then, to have bought TWD in the first place the didn't give a toss about him/her anyway.

But hey, for every ten they ignore that may have been a customer, there is probably one that will help pay the bills this week.. although had they ignored their new software and spent a little time they might have had more sales....

And the banks are rubbing their hands with glee as another company goes under and the overdrafts go up and up .....

Not getting at your personally, but if businesses are not going to take email queries seriously, why bother advertising an email address?

I quite often surf the web on my lunch break, and see some interesting product that I might consider buying. If the web site isn't very clear or it's for an overseas company I fire off an email saying something like "Do you have a UK distributor?" or similar. The latest example of this was "Speedbleeders", an American product I think. They never replied to my query about buying their product in the UK, so why should I bother spending more time and energy trying to give them my hard earned cash?

It's easy to send an email, that's the appeal of it. You can do it from work, where you may not be able to make a phone call for non work purposes. But surely this works both ways, a retailer can answer emails in their off time, so it doesn't interfere with serving customers - the number of times I've been in a bike shop and I've had to wait 10 minutes because all the staff are on the phone. This doesn't create a good impression either.

End of rambling :)

And yet probably some pimply salesman in a Jap salesman would have bit your hand off!
I had a similar experience, well two actually with KTM.I was looking round Brackens in London for another KTM for off-road use and although i was approached fairly quick he would not budge at all on the OTR price so i asked why and he said "sold my lot for the year mate so i can afford to sell at full price now"
I ended up getting one in Birmingham £800 cheaper!!!!!!!!!!
Now i like the guys at Brackens but it leaves a taste of "Smugness" in your mouth!

This is the other bit, KTM do not give you a free first service which considering i am in kent did not bother me to much as a trip up the M6 on a motard is not a happy prospect for the rear end.
So i was told i can get it serviced at any KTM dealer, so i ring up my local dealer(not brackens) and am told "Did you buy the bike from us sir" No i replied. "well sir we only service KTM's which are bought from here i suggest you go back to your dealer you bought it from!!!!!!!
I then ring up Brackens who say "No problem sir when would you like it done"
I have written a complaint to the appropriate person at KTM who has said he will investigate as this is not KTM's policy.

I have dealt with BMW dealers and KTM dealers and while they are usually friendly i have found them a bit to "Smug" at times almost on the snobbish side which i have told on occasions that to them as many a mate of mine will justify.

With the Japs its the other way round you are in and out now "piss off" attitude. Aftermarket servicing quite often crap and badly done.
And after sales almost non-existant if you can get the cheap bit of plastic and find the bloke to order it from.

Something in the Middle would be nice!

Shit! I hate "snobbery" and "class" bring on the revolution its not far away where the streets will be covered in blood you mark my words

:shoot:

AHHHHHH!!! Thats better beats a Sauna any day!

Just for the record, I take this back, they did finally get back to me.

and Mouse, did you buy from 'Speedbleeders'? or was it a waste of their/your time?

Banger.......Lagunas in Maidstone are a fully fledged KTM doodah dealer now if that helps any.

Mind you, they also had one of those silly silly humungous triumph things in yesterday
