HELP HELP I was in the fast lane on the M25 not going particularly fast when the bike slowed up, changed down but bike coasted to a halt on the hard shoulder in gear engine running but no forward motion. Can anyone help shed some light on lack of propulsion, I have heard the splines can shear on the drive shaft, could it be this. Is there a quick any easy way to diagnose.
Any help will be gratefully received. The bikes a R1150GS with 63k miles.

Can it still change gear ok ? .

If so, it'll be either clutch splines ( fairly common), drive shaft splines ( not so common, but still see a few), or the drive shaft rubber cush ( happens if you do a lot of off road, or like doing wheelies).

no power

With the bike in gear and engine off it is still possible to move the bike easily

As Steptoe says - can you change gears?

No sign of oil near the clutch?

Probably a spline - clutch or drive shaft (rear spline). Don't think you'd do a drive shaft rubber unless your stressing it.
