An event horizon somewhere...
I was riding home last nite and i could hear ( what i think is ) the fuel pump running non stop.
If i turn the engine off and wait a bit and switch back on again, the pump primes as usual and switches off , but after two minutes of riding i can hear it running continuosly again.

My instincts tell me it's a blocked fuel filter and i have bought one today to replace this evening.
Is there anything else that could cause this symptom or anything i should look for whilst i'm in there.

cheers amigo's

If the engine is running the pump runs continuosly.

It only primes and turns off when you turn the iginition on because the engine isn't running.

wish mine was quiet enough, just to hear the fuel pump :D

aha, so the pump pumps continously........mucho gracias

I was worried beecause i have never heard it run whilst riding before but i will change the filter tonite as planned for good measure

Many thanks amigo's :thumb2

Just changed the filter and rode a few miles with no sound of the pump running, me likey :)

No mysteries as to the culprit(s), the fuel filter was dated 2003 and was pretty blocked up and the gauze bag on the pump was covered in what i thought was a plastic bag but turned out to be the lining of the tank, probably paint originally in '94. i pulled loads of it out, I grabbed a pic but believe me....there was more
