is it normal for split second to get a little rattle on start up a bit like oil starvation its sweet as a nut after that 1150 gs adv 15k miles

I should warn you Andrew, you're at risk of a pish taking following that first post, but I'll give you a few pointers.

1: Tarka the Goth Mod will berate you for not following introduction procedures, it should have been something along the lines of "Hi, I'm Andrew, BTW is my bike fucked?"

2: You're secind problem is that you have given us too many of the bikes details, like model and mileage - now no-one has the opportunity to express disdainfully "yer, it would HELP if we knew WHAT bike you got - duh"

3: Paradoxically, you didnt give ENOUGH bike details, like it's colour, again, starving the more the anal members to start a "my colours fastest" war

Spelling and grammer fine though

And I wouldnt worry about the noise, they all do that, apparently, it's one of those poor quality 1150Adv's innit - I ride is the vastly superior, over powered, corrosion free 1100.

Welcome to the site BTW

Don't like the sound of that at all :(

Have you checked the wattle connection, they are known to fail on the 1150A at about 14500 miles. They normally run for a few more miles but then suddenly................................

Come on Steptoe, explain the Tensioner being loose untill the oil pulls it tight, which is normal, and that the ratling comes from the left side only.

Hi Andrew welcome to the site the black ones do that but I am not sure about the silver ones if you bike is black the only way to tell would be to paint it silver if it is silver than paint it black I hope that helps if your bike is a different color than you are on your own but if can aways paint it silver or black

Ged-day Andrew from Aus.

Yeah that sounds like the Tesioner on the Timing Chain. I fixed mine but I would cop too much of a 'Floggin' ( You English are good at that to us 'POM"s Down here, Convicts that is). Ok, ok an old trick but a good one, Turn your MP3 Player on before you start you bike! Its not only BMs that do this mate? The cure? I steatched the Springs a Wee-Bit in each Tensioiners. You do that at your own risk. Mine has been like it (streatched ) for over 20th Ks. no probs. Yes the chain is in good nick and NO RATTLE on start up? With clutch pulled in that is. You know about dry clutches? Another story, Big Ged-Day from BIGJim. In Tasmania Aus. I await my Floggin? Top site Andrew! beerjug:
