OK...metallic noise..forget the rest !!! Not good 
Did you torque down the head before doing valves? I only ask in case one of the cylinder studs has pulled from the crankcase.
May well be worth pulling the right side off and having a proper look inspection in case a piston ring has broken etc. I assume the valve clearances are staying the same in between the times you have checkced them recently?
