Hi Guys,

One of my front disc is making a bit of noise when braking, just when going from 10 mph to 0.

I got 3K on them, as usual, I went to the dealership..... and the noise disappeared. Back at home... the noise is still there??

Anyone with similar problems??

What sort of noise?

It's a high picth noise, only showing up at low speed.

They copperslip them.... but that's good for high frecuancy vibrations, since I'm getting the noise almost when I'm stopped, it won't make any different :(

It's a good 50 miles to the dealership... so not really worth to go again. I know it's sort of normal thing in some pad/disc combination... but I'm getting it only from one of them, on a quite expensive brand new bike..

Thanks!
Juanma.

Mine sometimes squeals when just coming to a stop, seems to depends on the weather, the phase of the moon and which Gods I have been making sacrifices to the day before - I just ignore it because it is not a big deal, it might disappear when the bike is serviced, it may not - all my 1200s have done it at some time or another.

I tried that Martin, plus, I commute everyday on the bike... so no rust or anything like that.

As Engineer said, all the bikes do it at some time or another....I guess I will have to live with it, until the next service that I will complain again.

Thanks to everyone!

Had something similar from my 650 twin a few months ago. Took it to an independent mechanic who cleaned the brakes thoroughly & the noise disappeared.
How sure are you that the dealer actually did something? :nenau

It might be worth pulling the pads, cleaning the caliper top and bottom slides, and top and bottom of the pads. Then copaslip rear and top and bottom of pads.
They could be sticking on the slides which can lead to squealing

What sort of noise? I've never found the need for copperslip on front or rear brake pads on the GS. However I did try some EBC pads once and found them quite noisy - a friction noise, not squealing, and will only use BMW OE pads now.

Stick some new OE pads in and see if it goes away? You can reuse the old ones later. Pads are consumables don't forget, before folks start whinging about cost.

Hi there, they coppersliped the back of the pads, and a gentle sand hand of the disc.... Noise came back after a while :(

Dfo, I will have a word with them in the next service.

thanks to everyone!!
