Damn that should be r1100gs ...:blast Think my gs is due a complete engine /gearbox diff oil change its started to get real noisy !! also the gear lever bolt that bolts the footrest mount keeps loosening off n making the gear changes a bit hit n miss ..would it be ok to remove the bolt and apply thread lock ? cheers :)

Noisy gearbox and diff......What is this magic noise eating oil you talk of. ;)
The stuff with half a dozen bananas? Or a few pairs of old nylon tights fed in through the filler hole? Or did those only work on ancient Ford Cortinas?

Hmm seems I'm worrying too much about the whirrs n clunks then ..:nenau took off the gear lever bolt from the footrest mount and put some blue medium strength thread lock on it then tightened it back up ..was going to take off the mount but one allen bolt was very tight so jus left it till I get some heat on it..dont want to snap the lug off the gearbox

Wcg, If your drivechain is noisy, I doubt just changing the oil will resolve the issue. (Is what I was alluding to:thumb2)
Unless there is no oil in them....which opens the can of worms.

+1. The tights trick would (allegedly) quiet a gearbox for the duration of the test drive as you got shot of the old wreck. You want to do a proper job?
