I have been given an iPhone 4 for work to replace my ageing Nokia 6230i.:)

I have loads of info, (pics, contacts etc.) that I would ultimately like to transfer to the iphone. :blast

Would I be right in thinking I have to back the nokia up to my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1501) and then somehow download that onto the iphone?:nenau

Problem is iphone takes a different size SIM card to the Nokia or it would be an easy transfer.

I recently had a lot of fun backing up a Nokia 6230i :( I downloaded Nokia PC Suite, installed it on the laptop and struggled for hours to get it to connect to the phone (had to buy the correct lead from an online supplier first as the phone owner lost the original - cost £6). I gave up on the laptop and tried again on the desktop, success first try. I think the laptop USB port didn't have enough power output to connect properly.

The PC Suite software does not provide any file export facilities so how to get the data out and loaded onto the new phone??? Well I synchronised with Outlook which loaded all of the data into Outlook. Once in Outlook I was able to export the data in csv format - phew and load into Excel.

With a bit more effort the data was eventually loaded onto the new phone.

Other data such as photo's can be saved from PC Suite reasonably easily and then transferred to the new phone.

To be honest not an experience I want or intend to repeat.

Good luck.
