I am soon to take delivery of a slightly used 1300GS.

When on tour I like to keep the key fob safely located in an inner, zipped pocket in my jacket. I usually buy an 'uncoded' key from the dealer so that I can unlock the sat nav bracket, seat etc without getting the fob out of my jacket.

According to my dealer these keys are not available for the 1300.

What are my alternatives?

Many Thanks

Mike

I've used this chap several times for getting such a key for my (now sold) vario luggage and satnav, seat release etc and can throughly recommend him, simple to do and good value as well as a quick turnaround.

Unless the fob has changed dramatically and it's truly key(blade) less. Then just take the fob to a competent lock smith , ask him to order a suitable blank and get a spare cut

If it is keyless as In no blade, ask the dealer how your expected to lock 3rd party panniers??

Same here Mike, but mines a new GSA.
I asked my dealer for an uncoded key, he didn't mention they were unavailable, I'll find out tomorrow!

The keys are definitely available from a dealer as I got one two weeks ago.

However, I used keys2code when my wife picked up her 1300 last week. K2C are much cheaper, but the OEM keys are a lot nicer and a bit smaller.

I hope to be at the dealers tomorrow, so I'll ask again

I second this guy

key was here within a couple of days and zero issues

Hi Mike, it’s same key as for the 1250. It shows on the parts fiche for the R1300GS under the body equipment section. Also had it confirmed eventually by Motorrad Germany, same key will work on R1300GSA. Dealer will normally ask to see V5 for VIN and your driving licence. Will cost approx £25 dependant on dealer. Part number: 51 257 688 674. The key will operate seat lock, GPS mount lock and the OEM panniers/top box if matched to your main key.

The small grey composite key should come with the bike, mine always have. This key will also start the bike if it's held right against the ring antenna. This is typically called the "emergency start key". There may be a simple manual key with no RFID that will only unlock cases and seat, and this may cost extra

Key2code supplied a key for my R1300GS in Dec 23
My dealer still saying not available

Can anyone who has sourced a BMW uncoded key from BMW name the dealer that supplied ti?

Thanks

Mike

I've not got mine yet, Mike, I'll let you know when I do.

Mines got nothing to do with any dealer, it's a blank non encoded key cut to the profile of the main key, does panniers, top box, seat, and sat nav.

I am wondering why a pattern part is not satisfactory for @MIKE R . Is the BMW roundel essential for something that lives in your pocket most of the time?

Having seen this thread I ordered one from Gary, and it arrived within a couple of days, last Friday. Worked fine on dat nav immediately, but was a bit sticky on the seat. Following a couple of suggestions from Gary, it now works absolutely fine on the locks I wanted it for.

Fob can now be securely attached inside a trouser pocket.
