My old 1950 Norton ES2 has a 6v 60w Lucas dynamo which I converted to 12v output. It still only chucks out 60w but at least the conversion has allowed me to fit a LED tail/stop light which draws far less of the meagre power available. Next I fitted a HiLo 35w HID up front and for the first time in it's half centuary existence it can be riden safely at night.
Some months back I saw some neat little LED type indicators on eBay and I liked the retro/corny Dan Dare style look of the things, so got them and fitted them as well. They work but they are so small that they only have room for one LED so are virtually useless. However they gave me the idea that I could copy them in a larger size and fit maybe 8 or 10 or so LEDs into my home made set.
I started yesterday with a length of ally bar from my scrap bin and have three of them turned up in the lathe so far. next I need some orange lenses for them and some LEDs. Now this is the bit where I need advice please.
Who knows anything about LED's?
There's a bewildering selection of the things available on eBay for peanuts but which spec? colour? output? display angle? etc etc etc.
I've seen some which come with a resistor in the lead so reckon all I have to do is solder the leads together so I have two tails coming out of each indicator body, easy enough, but which kind do I get?
Any thoughts gratefully appreciated.

thanks millard

PS
Why can't I post in "The Font of all Wisdom"?

The "Font of all Wisdom" section is where invaluable "how to" threads are easily found and is intended as a reference section of the site. If any mod sees a thread which is informative and useful to other site members then it can be moved into the Font.

I hope that clarifies it for you somewhat. :)

Give them a bell, I've spoken to the lad a couple of times at bike shows and he's always been very helpful.
