Non Rust Crashbars

I'll be putting the tank protectors on next tuesday, as I'm not at work then (beak off jobbie):blast

I fitted H&B Tank protectors without having to take the beak off. I fitted them at the same time as my H&B engine bars so managed to get it all done in one night. The top U bolts that go through the Tank Protectors are a pain in the butt to fit and tighten up. I think I used a few cable ties to get the bits into position while I fitted them.

I put some 25mm reinforced Pond hose round the bars to prevent scratches in a fall.

Well tonight they got tested out when I dropped the bike when my short leg never managed to find earth in time  They did move a bit but did take most of the damage leaving only a slight mark on the bar which seems to have covered over with silver Hammerite. Maybe if I had cable tied them they would have not moved at all and there might not have been any damage at all.

My reflectors and bungee anchors also took the brunt of the fall on my pannier. Going to make a couple of adjustements to my panniers to future protect them but pleased with the minimum damage inflicted.

Can't belive the surge of adrelin that shot through my body as my 10.5st body heaved the bike up even with its bakc wheel still up on a 4inch high kerb. Note to self, next time coming off a kerb go a bit faster :blast

I've also made a small investment in a crash bung for the shaft drive. Saves it from any (further) damage in a tip over. :augie
