Non starting Q

Just wheeled the bike on the drive, all lights come on but all i get is a couple of 'clicks' and nothing.

Tried bump starting it in 2nd but all i get is a back wheel lock up, got a few hundred yards from home (down hill) and decided that was enough, left it on the pub car park!

I've looked through some threads and assume its going to be the battery but also see the FPC failure mentioned often but cant see what the symptons are?

Can the bike be jump started from a car? I'm in the RAC so may end up just calling them out to drag it back up the hill (will also check to see if still covered by BMW recovery as bought last April and not sure if 3 or 12 months was added)

Coincidence? I wired in some spots on the weekend, direct to battery via a fuse and overiding switch, hope it isnt my wiring

I know this type of thing has been posted 75 million times but i cant find the answers i want and its gonna be quicker for Tossers to take the pi55 out of me and supply an answer than me keep trawling through stuff

It does sound like a dead battery - pretty sure that the FPC failing would not stop the bike turning over.

I'd be suspecting your wiring, sorry.

Can you jump start a bike from a car?

Yep - but I believe the std recommendation is not to have the ca engine running as it will over load the bike electronics.

Sounds fair, looks like its gonna be a jump start to get it home then source a replacement....Thanks again Mav
