In the course of going through the wiring loom as part of the rebuild I came across this mess down at the rear indicator wires, are all these connectors normal BMW guntering or a rewire, as I am assuming given the different gauge of wires it is was done Stevie Wonder ??

Cheers

Far from it being a bodge, those connectors are or were pretty highend for there time,

They were a onetime use connector with grommeted entry / exit points & filled with dielectric grease

First saw them back in the early 80's they came via a friends dad who was working on some HVAC contracts in China if i recall

Made the common or garden scotchloc connector seem positively primitive lol.

Just done a quick search and you can still get them today :)

I have to admit it was my first time seeing those type of connections, they are shown on the wiring diagram in the Haynes and we were actually able to open them and they are quite clever in their design in the inside. What got me was the different gauges of wire and connectors and wire over complicating things.
Cheers
