North London meeting - Thursday 14th August 2008 - another Green Lanes rideout!

Damn Missed It

Excuses:

1. Sorry - got involved with stuff and couldn't get there.

2. The ST is parked in front of my bike with no way of me getting mine out without moving his.

3. No way I can move his by myself

4. Was still in my jim jams at 6.00 pm!

Hopefully see you next time.

Eight of us duly ambled around the gentle Hertfordshire countryside before retiring to the arms of Claire at Whitewebbs.

Light rain during the early part of the ride ensured that the trails weren't too dry and served to hone the off-road skills of the fine bunch of gentlemen who ventured out.

Photos later.

Thanks for arranging it Greg. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and good to meet everyone. Nice nosh at the pub too :thumb

Bit nippy on the way home from the pub though - seemed like autumn already at 10C with fog :(

David James - nice villa but, oh dear, only one spotlight!

Mark making steady but sure progress:

Mark dismounted to study the ideal line through the undergrowth (and to have various fallen twigs and leaves moved out of his path):

A few dabs and he's through. I note that the right-hand spotlamp is undamaged at this stage. And this was the last lane of the evening. Did you fall over in the pub car-park again?

I'll have you know I have 2 spotlights...............it's just that one of them is in the tankbag..........and its mounting is a little poorly :augie

Thanks for a leading this, I really enjoyed it - I was crapping myself at times but that is all part of the fun. A GSA on Tourances was a reall handful in those conditions for a complete novice (as the missing spotlight shows). My back is killing me today as well, I think I hit the ground a bit harder than I had first thought.

Looks like you got your own back in the end :thumb2

BTW - I did notice that you tried and failed to get me even muddier by stopping in the middle of 6 inch mud and then spinning the rear!!!

Look forward to seeing you in Spain for more gloating.

Not quite enough revs!!

Yes, I look forward to a beer in both your villa and the square at Competa!

Thanks Greg for a fantastic night out.

You should change your name to ''OFF ROAD MASTERS''

We was laughing at one stage at how did Ewan and Charley get through Mongolia and we struggled to get through some of those swamps.

The spotlamp is still intact, just a little twisted and very dirty, (a bit like me).

It was nice to get to Whitewebbs and get a nice cuddle from Claire;);)

I had a great time out on the ride out, even if i did fall over on the last lane. Looks like i have defiantly got to get me an off roader.

It was great to see some new faces.

Thanks to you all for making the night a safe and enjoyable one.

Missed a good night again

Sorry guys, wife called in to work at short notice (shortage of midwives:thedummy) had to look after my boy. See you next time.

Mark,
If BMW gave you a gs 1200 adventure, with tools back up vehicles, clothing, bike filled with touratec gear, sat nav. whitewebbs would be a walk in the park.
(I would even go now on a 2nd hand one) ( yes please BMW motorrad :augie) you would go through hell and back and not even worry about it. unlike when your on your own.
Mind you, you did get a cuddle from claire,;) I hear :D.
And may I offer a landrover for your adventures they go over twigs better. :D
