A great day... thanks team, thanks Timpo

My round trip was 420 miles in total... I had a 'twat' moment on the ride home.

The bike started to lose power and I was cursing big time then I realsied the throtle grip was slipping on the barrel:blast

Easier going on the hills
168335456-L.jpg

Wreford's lovely GS special is in there somewhere:blast
168336363-L.jpg

Rocks feeling very pleased with his DRZ, last time he was here, he was on his arse with a GS on top him:D

Why we have trail bikes:)
168344119-L.jpg

But there's trouble ahead:eek:
168344634-L.jpg

Nic's taken a tumble :blast
168345348-L.jpg

We (yes we, I did lend a hand:P ) drag the bike out onto dry land
168345932-L.jpg

We can't start it despite advise from a KTM mechanic over the phone.
Eventually, after a tow it starts but quickly discover it has drawn water into the crankcase, the oil filter is saturated and it doesn't sound too good:( .
Luckily we are near a forestry track and Timpo tows it about 10 miles to the road in the driving rain....while I guess poor Nic is dreaming of Tunisia, Algeria, Italy ..well anywhere except a wet Welsh mountainside.

So a slightly sad end to what had been another fantastic day of motorcycling at it's best.

As always on these rides the company, laughs and spills make it a day to remember, I'm only sorry not to have any photos of Timpo on his arse...still next time:thumb :guitarist

:clap :clap :clap

Thanks for the nice report. Unfortunatly I didn't have any pics to post:blast ...but don't worry I had great time and didn't regret at all to be there with you all deep in mud:bounce1 ...

Once I will have take all fishes out from my engine I'll be ready again!!!!!:thedummy

Ciao

Nic

Great pictures again Tim. It looks as if all the colour has drained off your tank onto Timpo's coat:D
Good Luck with getting your bike fixed Nic

Four cough, mate?

It looks as if all the colour has drained off your tank onto Timpo's coat!

Hew, your going down is my estimations.:P
I take it that you made it home dry today? N't.............:blast

Timpo.

Hi

A big thank you to Timpo for showing me some ace trails, and a big thanks to everyone else who turned up and were so kind and gracious to a stranger.

Looking forward to doing it again, when perhaps i can follow the ladies lead and not fall off:blast

Kind regards

Mark

Thankyou one and all..

A big thankyou to Timpo for once again being an excellent guide and for the rest of the folks who made it a right laugh despite the damp weather.

Top day.. So cheers Folks.. and nice pics Tim..
Oh and well done Wreford for getting around in some of the tight ruts..

well last night was spent in my local:

That nice window seat with good ligh
A few pints of IPA
And 20 pages printed from various sites on the subject of Airhead electrics... It's quite intresting when you get into it!

Anyway that was my perfect end to a good weekend... I brought the bike to ride places and go offroad and I want to really undersatnd the bike so having a few gremlins show gave the opportunity to get beneath the skin (tank!)

Apart from worry about the charging light the bike performed well... the ride up was a great cross country charge and the weekend proved youcan make progress on and off road...

Thanks again for the organisation and hospitality.

Items Learnt on ride..

1) Remember to pack some snack food as well as the cammel back
2) KTMs dont like taking an unintentional baths!
3) Parracord is not strong enough to tow a KTM adventure
3) TT tie down strap makes a good tow rope
4) Honda XR400s dont go straight when left rear wheel adjuster on 10 and right on 15.
5) TKCs with no centre tread dont like mud.
6) DRZ400 rear brakes start of cease if not used for a long time. :(
7) Your brake fluid in your rear reseviour shouldnt look like milk shake. :blast
8) Check your chain adjustment is correct before leaving home :blast :augie
9) Timpo's definition of a trail can get "interesting".. :D
10) Cruz tools Fender Pack is actually pretty good for fixing a DRZ.
11) Pick your own line on the trail.
12) Some people can ride! :bow :bow :bow
13) There seems to be alot of nutts and bolts involved with taking the top off a KTM 950 adventure air box.
14) KTM engine oil shouldnt be white
15) You should start to worry when Timpo starts to grin with a glint in his eye! :D :D :D
16) There are some BIG holes :eek in some of the local trails after the rains.

Wasnt this the 'easy' trail ride

Yes, as Timolgra says.
This is the easiest ride I know, and it is very interesting with recent rains.
Now the next ride out is a Llangollen/Vyrnwy loop and I had a look at some of those lanes yesterday, and I'm very concerned about the degree of difficulty. I have already got Timolgra's name down, along with Hew's.........:augie

Timpo.
