North West Camping

Camping Date Confirmation

Guys

The 12/13th Aug is the most popular weekend so we'll go with that; please put the dates in the diary.

We'll keep it simple; we'll meet at Lymm Truck Stop at 9.30am on Sat the 12th, make our way across to Beddgelert. A few people have posted with good routes that they know to get us there; if someone has a route that they can programme into a GPS, then feel free, and let me know. I know the way, but failing that we can check out maps on the Saturday morning before we leave

My wife and I are going over to Beddgelert this weekend with a view to checking out campsites and B&B's, etc. I'll post findings next week; there is a website for Beddgelert village.. if you search on Beddgelert Snowdonia you should find it.

Regards

PS. This trip is open to all; please forward the invite if you know of anyone else that might be interested

...may even intercept you enroute :thumb

Me too.....I ain`t riding to Lymm and then back past my house towards Chester.

In fact, due to my group riding aversion,I may even just meet y`all at the site.

We may well be up for that, my wife should have her leg out of plaster by then and a weekend away would be good, I will run it past her tonight.

We would be camping and may even aim to get there Friday evening and make a weekend of it, and of course get the towels down early by the pool.

I've got a route sorted ..."but open to inputs."

if we would like to get to Bedgelert around 3-4 ish pm ?
then i've got a nice easy going route which would take out most main roads but not all.. it's a bit of a zig zag and takes us on roads we would not normaly ride on plus different vies of north wales .

Lymm to Wrexham via M6,M56, A49.A 534
Wrexham to Ruthin A525
Ruthin to Cerrigydrudion B5105
Cerrigydrudion head up towards A543 then back down A543 to Pentrefoelas
Pentrefoelas on B4407 about 8 miles then head back via minor road to Penmachno.
head into betws y coed...upto Capel Curig..........depending on time etc the are a few choices down A5 to Bethesda come aross on A4244 to Llanberis up on the A4086 then down to Bedgelert...

this route gives us tea stops / fag breaks ( i do not smoke) and in most keeps us away from main traffic 50% of the time...but does give us great views of Ogwen vally and Llanberis pass and the Denbighshire moores and some vallys you may not have seen.. :thumb

We''ll be there or somewhere along the way.

Me neither . Maybe we can have a second 'pick up point' somewhere around the south Chester area.

Anyway for now I will book it in my diary....................unless of course you want to change it to the 20th ;)

Oh gawd.......this is going to end up rivalling the usual jangling over the monthly meetings..........when shall we go.....where shall we go.....where shall we meet....what time shall we meet.....anyone fancy meeting up here en route....anyone fancy meeting up there en route....what time shall we meet up here en route....what time shall we meet up there en route..... how about this date...how about that date :D :D

Pipster.....best deciding on the date, and the camp site and posting it on here, along with your choice of meeting place, start time and route.

Anyone not wanting to start at the same point can calculate a likely intercept time wherever along the route suits them...or meet up at the site.

No mate.

There`s a more 'back roady' one I know of,though.

I was just taking the piss out of the forseen future posts...along the lines of the usual umpteen dozen it takes before a monthly meeting is agreed on :D

Piss off Steve, you never come to any of the meetings anyway ;)

It'd be cool to have just a second 'pick up point' along the route........nothing more complicated than that :mmmm

I`ve usually just about lost the will to live by the time you`ve all decided on what`s happening :rob

Seriously.......it`s mostly when I`m on late shifts, and when it isn`t,I`ve got other commitments.

Talking of other commitments,I now can`t do the 12th/13th,so I`m not free until the 2nd/3rd September..... Have fun,y`all :D :D :D :D

Right scratch us. :(

I cannot get the dogs into the kennels - fully booked until the 29th, they have put them on the waiting list but we are 8th on the list for that weekend.

I would be interstested in anything camping related happening later in the year in the Peaks or Snowdonia area, cold wet weather is not a problem.

Got the tent now!

After much internet poking, decided to buy a VauDe Taurus II from go-outdoors in Stockport. It's a three man tent but is very light, and will fit diagonally in the RHS bmw pannier on my R1200GS.

To be honest though, it'll be on the rear seat.

Re Camping

Hayley and myself rode up to Snowdonia last weekend and had a look at campsites.

There is 3 or 4 in the Beddgelert area that we can use. The one that I intended to go to does not allow groups of more than about 6 people; they're strict on that despite the fact that we know them and have camped there before.

We saw 3 other campsites which each look fine. My favourite is just outside Beddgelert (bout 1 mile; The Celwyn Arms). If you visit their website, www.snowdoninn.co.uk you'll see that there is camping, B&B and bunkhouses, and the pub serves food and drink (few mins from the campsite/bunkhouse); so something for everyone ?!

Please have a look and if you want to book a room, please call the pub direct. Let me know what your preference is and I'll book a camping pitch for those that want to camp. I should see some of you at the Windmill next Tuesday eve.

Cheers; hope the weather holds (!)

i think i'll be camping ..unless the weather turns on us !! and it's raining then it will be a B&B :D

hope the weather holds out !!!!
