Trip Invite Northern Spain back through France

looks like this may be a ''Go''!! (y) (y) (y)
Looks like it could be a happy threesome!

referecne the above 2 posts 17 & 19..... Could i ask politely if someone could help me out then with some ideas.
Day 6 ends in a small town called Lacaune in ther Parc du Haut Languedoc. Happy to then hoof it east to the hotel recommended by in Arseys report - Le Marronier in Rencurel but dont want to do more that 330 km from start point....... Then I need to get about 340km north before heading west to Verdun.

I can add on 1 day to the overall tour but would apporeciate some tips especially as would like to avoid the spagetti junctions arouind Lyon and of course the motorway unless absolutely necessary

As discussed by PM if my massive flex trip works I hope to bump into you at some stage (y) (y)

I can dig out the MyRoute route I’ve done twice or more from Millau up to / past Rencurel then to Quarre les Tombs, then to Verdun or to St Menehould.

There is nothing wrong with taking the motorway to avoid Lyon. The area becomes congested as much due to geography as anything else, as the mighty Rhone river valley gets in the way. You can take the Michelin map’s holiday Bis route, but this runs (near enough) parallel to the motorway and doesn’t have a whole heap to commend it. How do I know? I have driven / ridden past Lyon umpteen times, heading to / from Provence from Calais.

Tried to get a couple of rooms at the Station in Spain Gran Franc or whatever its called….but the rates were coming in at € 350 per night which is a tad on the high side.

If it can help with ideas/planning:

Pyrenees trip in 2019. Easter.
Ferry to Bilbao (when it was still 26 hours going south), rode across and then came back up the usual route. Super pleasant ride until almost all the way when we rejoined the major arteries south of Lyon.

https://www.granhoteljaca.com/es/ is a more modest rate in the centre of Jaca

for something a bit posher and in a rural location on top of a hill, try the Parador Sos del Rey Catolico
