Its a loverly day here in Tynedale Northumberland, and I'm stuck doing my bathroom update, however, all is not lost!. Wife out for the afternoon and I'm ahead of schedule :)

Check the blue sky, leather or textile? Leather jacket and jeans weather (armoured of course) I opt not for Hi Vis, as my bike is Canary Yellow, so Black Helmet, Black Visor, Black Leather Jacket, Blue Jeans (armoured of course) and as nod to the GS riders uniformity of clothing, I will wear my TCX infinity daisy rootz :thumb2
GS 020.jpg

No particular place to go but I'm limited to a 2hour run so no more than 60 mile round trip, I head through Corbridge onto the A68 (the roller coaster road) when I see the worlds biggest signs, Mmmmm light traffic only:thumb2

Who'd have thought Lough's outside of Ireland! Sweethope Loughs here I come.
GS 022.jpg

I pass by Hadrian's wall, Hadrian's the local farmer here:D

The road is good, good meaning craters rocks, small stones and sheep poo so ideal bike I have under my arse:rolleyes:
GS 025.jpg

Mind looks like the sheep have explosive diarrohea, you gotta be careful in these parts;)
GS 024.jpg

The Lough hoves into view, fantastic roads and views, bumpy and twisty turny, with nobody around at all, not one!
My camera is pants though so it doesn't do it justice
GS 026.jpg

Mind it can be lonely up here, miles and miles of nothing, but I think its lush:thumb2

Part 3

All too soon I spot civilisation and head down into a village called Elsdon, can you guess where I'm going to?
GS 027.jpg

Tempting though this was, I'm going (not literally) off track, but I want to get to a certain Gibbet!
GS 028.jpg

And then after some twisty B's I'm at the infamous Winters Gibbet, from an earlier thread in the 'Show Us Yours' section.

I stop and make an 'Homage' to Chris Kelley:P
GS 029.jpg

Mind you by this time I've been on the road for an hour, and there is no traffic, cars nil, bikes a couple, nothing, zilch, nada, zero. :thumb2
GS 031.jpg

I'm gonna get me tea, then I'll post the next instalment

Which includes mindless political vandelism by the author

Finale

As I'm at the halfway point I've got to get home ASAP, so I cut through the back road to Bellingham, ending up at Chollerford. I stop at Heavenfield for a historical photo, highbrow stuff this, loads of culture here
GS 034.jpg

Some big battle in 600AD between the local chieftain Noggin the Nog or something, and the Angles chief Oswald or OZZIE tha Basterd :D, anyway as per normal the Angles beat him and he buggered off to Wales to make cheese on toast and sing lots :augie
GS 035.jpg

I keep going past these on the way home and its starting to piss me off something proper, I watched the so called big debate on the TV the other day, not impressed by any of them but I'd rather be turned into a Frenchman than vote for the shower of f........ w.......s
GS 032.jpg

So I opt for my democratic right to be childish and vandalise it
GS 033.jpg

Just back and put the fat lass to bed, now to get the sink back on!
GS 021.jpg

Anyway thats it, not a hugely adventurous day, just an unplanned ride to unplanned places near where I live, 2 and bit hours and 72 miles, majority on B and unclassified roads, with a wee bit on the A68.

Hope it was none too shabby, I enjoyed myself.

Cheers for reading :thumb2

I was up there last weekend from rothbury over to elsdon the road is bad full of potholes and gravel all over the shop. We went onto kielder to see if we could catch you lot up but we must of missed you. So we headed to jedbourgh for some bate. Then we headed back to elsdon then turned right over by the gibbit and back to rothbury that way as the roads were a lot cleaner until just before rothbury there is a big patch of gravel right on the bend. As we came up carter bar there was an r1 being put onto the back of a breakdown truck as it had been down the road. My son rang me as he works driving a recovery truck and he had to pick a harley davison that had went straight through a dry stone wall it took 10 bodies to get it out of the field as it had snapped the forks clean off. So be carefull when your out and about.

what a difference a few weeks make

the road to the gibbit and the view of elsdon
