Hi thanks very much just checked my post tonight. Big thanks for your help...Everyone...

Vemork

Just read about this Heavy water plant (Thanks Liv) it looks an interesting place I like physics and chemistry very interesting now on my list of things I need to visit. All the best with the trip Paddy.

Those are great pictures; I have'nt been at Rjukan myselfes after I was a little girl.

And I know about the Christmastree; they write a little about it in the newspaper each November when they cut the tree.
There is a man who pick out several tress, and give the trees fertilizer for 10 years, and the best tree goes to London.

You got Nessie in Loch Ness, we got Selma in Seljordsvatnet!
That is a little bit south from Rjukan, Seljord.

We have an expression: Telemarksvinger.
Svinger = bends,
so by this we mean there are a lot of funny roads in Telemark, with bends.
No fjords, but deep lakes.
Not much people or cities, but wood and hills.

I hope you will like it!
And remind me of when you are coming and I try to meet you somewhere not too far from Oslo! :beer:

:) Liv.

I used to do quite a few work trips to Stavanger and Bergan, and one year some nutter in the UK took an axe to the Christma tree for some protest or other. I was almost embarrassed to visit the next time I had to go! When I mentioned it over a drink, they just laughed and said there are idiots everywhere. Nice bunch the Norgewians - always had a good time over there.

I'm another looking to visit this year, but will be sticking to the west coast. Only thing that will stop me is the cost - I'm not a bike camping sort of person (although I like camping with the kids), so the hotels / drink cost may stop me coming!

Booze is very expensive in Norway, I did wonder if this would have been a good money making scam last time I visited, anyone tried it? :beerjug:
