Just got back home after fork brace changed under warranty by Ocean, noticed when i picked the bike up that the front suspension felt very stiff, but thought that it would just need to settle, but now after 35 mile ride home have noticed that the front brakes are binding too!!!!, reluctant to take it back 35 miles with the brakes binding, so off to the garage to take off the callipers & take a look.

Hi Gary,

I had something similar a while ago after changing my front wheel.

After looking at it for a while, I found that the fork legs were squeezed together a bit. The right fork leg was closer to the brake disk than the left one.

I had tightened the wheel axle (1) at 40 Nm instead of 30 Nm, looking at the wrong line in the torque table. Loosen the allen bolts (2) that clamp the axle, re-tighten the axle (1) at 30 Nm and then tighten the bolts (2) again at 22 Nm.

Maybe your problem is the same.

Thanks Michel,
That sounds logical, i have tried removeing the callipers & checking the pistons, which has improved it.
But i think i will feel happier if i slacken everything off & start again.
Thats the trouble with being an ex-bike mechanic, you never trust anyone else to work on your own bike.

I've always "bounced" bikes front suspension before doing up the nuts/bolts, gets rid of any trapped stresses in the legs, not sure how relevant it is on tele-lever front ends though.
