I entered a competition in a Ride Magazine for an all expenses paid tour to the Picos in Northern Spain with Alpine TT Tours. You've probably guessed by the title of this post that I won it. So, me, the the wife and the GS sailed from Plymouth to Santander with John, the tour leader, and 4 others.
A fabulous time was had by all so just attached a few photos of the trip.
I have to give a big shout to Alpine TT and specifically John. The amount of work a preparation put into the tour is immense and the others that had paid hard cash for the tour had absolutely no complaints, indeed they were full of praise.
To be honest I didn't think touring as part of a group was my thing but if you don't want to put any work into planning, have no worries at all about where to stay, where to go for the best roads and sights, what to see, and what and where to eat, together with the freedom to do your own thing when you feel like it, then touring with Alpine TT might be your thing.
I'd been to the Picos 3 times before and generally have a self organised tour every year but we enjoyed it so much I'm seriously thinking about joining the Alpine TT tour to Austria in 2016. They are that good.
Nothing to do with Alpine TT but a word of caution about Brittany Ferries - My left hand pannier was damaged on the stormy return crossing. Brittany are saying I should have completed a damage report form at the time. Fine if you notice the damage before disembarking. I'm currently in dispute with them so if you travel with them might be worth having a good look around your bike before leaving the ferry so save arguments later.
