Not impressed with paint finish

Only the immediately visible parts of the faux tank panels of my Lava Orange F650GS are painted. So when you look down at the join between the panels at the top of the 'tank' you see an orange-speckled undercoat in the crack. Similarly the inside of the side panels is a speckled finish which is most obvious when looking down through the forks.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I didn't notice this on my previous 2008 F650GS, possibly because the panels were undercoat shaded Iceberg Silver...

Yeah my purple paint job is the same, why didn't they bloody take 1 minute to spray atleast 1-layer of paint on the underside or inside detail. *Tight barstewards*

Hey word of advice get a touch-up pot from them & the paint code. Nice to pass on stuff like that to next owner.

I'm not about to get out a paint brush. I might consider having a go if there was a spray can available, but this really needs to be done properly. It's a brand new bike FFS!

Take it back to BMW, after all, you have paid some good monies for a beemer and considering its only a few weeks old, i think you have a case!

Yep, that's what I would also do...

The over lapping seams are disappointing, I'd complain also. Might well spray the inside of my panel's. Not in a rush though.

are they hand sprayed or machine/computer jobbie sprayed...

looks like conveyor belt spraying, one side only....

i would bring it back and complain and check out the other new bikes to see the standard is better, same as or worse

Yes I found that when I bought my second Triumph Sprint ST Howard. The paint was flaking off that in no time at all, and the factory didn't want to know.

Rose tinted spectacles handed out in the showroom by the sales staff helps hide these small flaws

I can't be sure from the photos, but it may be that those panels are not painted, there is a process where the colour is impregnated in the plastic and only the outward facing panels are shiny.
