not so Good Vibrations

This particular vibration is not from the drive shaft, I had my shaft greased during service (ooh er) made no difference.

i did my shaft over last winter.. my issues started in May.. so it won't be the shaft we know.. but just interested in its condition... :)

Just wondering.. have you had your cams done (or do they need doing?).. just thinking where all those small metal bits go when a cam furks up?.. I had mine done on the old bike about 2K before the problem started??..

I am not sure what you mean by having the cams done, do you mean the valve clearances ?,this is my second GS and both have had this issue one started at 6000mls and the current one started at 12000mls now at 23000mls with FBMWSH. I don't think it is linked to engine it deffo feels like gearbox to me.

When I say cams, i mean have you had them replaced? Due to them wearing out... think they are a consumable on a GS... bit like an oil filter, but more expensive 😉🤣

No, never any cam issues, maybe we get better quality in the home counties.

Interesting thread. I had my shaft replaced a few weeks back and all seemed ok. Last week I had Anekee adventure tyres fitted to my 2016 GSA LC.
I took rims in loose and rode it yesterday first time at motorway speeds. Had a horrible handlebar buzzing/vibration from 60 mph up. Once at 85mph it was so bad you couldn’t see a reflection in the mirrors.
I’ve had all wheels checked and balanced and two bmw techs ride bike but they say it’s ok. I know it’s not as it never did this before over last 6k miles. I’m returning the Anekee adventures as I’m convinced this is a tyre issue and going back to Anakee 3 tyres. If it still vibrates I’ll get them to check the new shaft.
Are drive shafts balanced or just fitted?

This a different issue to that the OP raised, If the vibes started with the new tyres that is your first thing to check, were they balanced properly ? It is unlikely to be the tyres themselves. Go back to where they were fitted and get them rebalanced then next refitted and lastly new tyres.
