Hello!

I have recently registered on this forum, and I gotta say, I am learning quite a bit about my current dream bike. No, I have not done the deed yet, but I will be before the fat guy comes to visit in a few months.

I've been looking at this machine for about two years now, and it seems to be right up my alley. I have taken a few (short) test rides, and have come away very impressed each time. I just wish I could find a rental agency, or a crazy salesman, that would let me use one for an extended period of time.

Until such a time, I will rely on you good people to be honest and descriptive with your experiences, so that I can feel like I've made a wise decision ( though I am thinking that I already have!).

God, GS's, Land Rovers, and England ... what could be better? Planning a Edelweiss tour for about two years from now; really looking forward to that!

Thanks for letting me ramble ... see you all in the posts! :D

"honest, truthfull, unbiased opinions"?

You've come to the right place! :D :D :D

Good luck in your search for a GS, you know you will like it!

Iain

Welcome.

Quite a few BMW dealers do GS rental but they are very expensive e.g. San Jose BMW, CA - $200/day. Not sure about your end of the country though. If you have already had some short test rides then just take the plunge and do it. If you want convincing that you have made the right decision take a ride up to the next state north and ride the Blue Ridge mountain through northern Georgia and the Carolinas. I can't imagine a better place to ride a bike.

b.t.w. What is an "Edelweiss tour"?

Thanks for the replys!

I want to rent a GS for at least a week before dropping that kind of money ... I've never spent more than 8K on a bike.

As far as the tour is concerned, I would prefer to do a "on-my-own" type of thing, I just don't have the time necessary to see all that I would want to see ... hence, the guided (:D ) tour approach.:clap

i rode my freinds gs fo 20 miles and knew then that i had to have one...........i too had been drooling for about 4 years over this bike and couldnt come to grips to spend that kind of money on a bike.......i got rid of my 91 fj1200 of which i had for nine years and dont regret it a bit now that i have the gs (march 2001 test ride...july 2001 a new black gs was in the garage!) go for it!!
