Sad news, I guess the nearness of Grantham Honda means one was going to close.

They didnt last long :(
Indeed, it doesnt seem like long. They were on Haydn Road in Sherwood (just bikes) for a some years as I remember getting my scoot serviced there.

Never purchased anything from them in their current location, so I suppose I can't complain. It's a shame because Honda seem to be coming out with some interesting bikes, I like the idea of the CB1000F as a pillion friendly bike.

they have made the range more attractive but the volumes are not very high and the lowish prices mean not much margin for Honda and the dealers

the GB350 topped the sales chart in its cc range in July with around 100 registered. Sells for £4k, £3333 to the dealer after VAT paid. Those volumes and prices are not going to sustain the existing dealer network. There is bound to be more consolidation.

They told me the margin on the CB350s is only around 7-10% depending on bonus levels etc, which can't generate much if any proft. Most of their dealerships have at least one internet sales person and it seems a huge proportion of their sales are made this way. Begs the question as to how beneficial it is to have large expensive premesis, Honda probably insist on it and to be separate from other vehicle showrooms on site. They certainly feel the squeeze but I would suspect reduced profits are caused by a complexity of factors.

From experience in buying cars and bikes from various branches up and down the country, I feel they have not got a good track record offering great customer experience which would be detrimental. Try phoning and you often end up at their Tyne & Wear call centre and wait an age for a return call of it comes.

Hope the staff manage to gain employment quickly.

When I visited BMW Motoradd in Chester , they said the majority of their sales were distance sales. The sales guy said they get a bike in , research the range of on line prices at other dealers, then price it low to shift the stock.

I bought a second hand bike (FJR) and traded in my Niken to them and was pleased with the deal I got with Virtu.

I previously got a good deal from their Sunderland BMW dealership.

I remember when Pidcocks were the local Honda dealer on Mapperly Top (now KFC) before they moved to Long Eaton.

The Hayden Road bikes was opened pre Virtu (Nottingham Honda).

Bike dealerships have been depleted in Nottingham with both Suzuki and Yamaha gone.

at least Triumph has come back in the Harley dealership.
