Bought myself a lovely 1200RT and am looking forward to some good times. Not my first BMW.
Used to own an ex police R80/7 many moons ago and also an 1150GS later.

Owned various bikes in between but have migrated back to the German mile muncher.

Not doing so many short runs (commuting etc) any more so the RT will be predominantly for longer rides.

looks nice and clean…enjoy

Bike looks mint...

Yes it does! If you want to keep it looking that nice I'd slap some helicopter tape or vecro (just the furry side, obviously) on that plastic behind the footpegs before you rub all the paint off with your heels.

Despite the fact that I got rid of my own RT because it was simply not the appropriate ride for my needs or suited to the roads I spend 90+% of my time riding and it was, intellectually, absolutely the right thing to do - I am still nostalgic for the thing. They are a great machine - enjoy!

Nice, hope you have a great year on it.
My first BM was a 75/7 ex plod with a Avon fairing on it,happy days.

Thank you all for your comments. Yes the helicopter tape is a good idea
I've just purchased a new Givi Maxia, e193 mounting kit and the brake light kit for the box. Thought I'd go the whole hog while I had the money
Will it be ok to tap into brake light wire for power?

I had a 2010 GS, and fitted a Givi top box with brake light and the only problem i had was the contacts between box and rack where a bit temperamental. On my current RT I use protective film on top of the panniers to keep them from getting scuffed by clumsy boots.

ENJOY :thumby:

Cheers for that, I'd heard they be a bit temperamental so I'll proceed with caution!
