Well,

I ordered my GS TE (alpine white) on the spur of the moment.

Just looking it over and it looks like I have ABS Pro/dynamic brake light. Result! Thought that was for 2016 models only. Was on a bit of a downer for a bit as I thought I had ordered at the wrong time. Cheered me up no end

Lean angle sensor/dynamic brake light gubbins under rear seat, I also had a look at the VIN decoder which supports this.

My guess - when you brake really hard the guy that runs into the back of you sees a flashing brake light as he knocks you off rather than a permanently lit brake light if you were on the older model

There's a pretty good YouTube video demonstrating the dynamic bike light. Not that the w@nkers using their phones will notice a flashing light any more than a static one.

It is a wonderful thing! It works via a sensor attached to your sphincter - the harder you squeeze the faster it flashes

I think it is standard with TE models at least.

I'm sure my dealer said the new brake light was standard on a 2016 GSA

Looking at the BMW website, it's unclear whether the standard model has it. I imagine it will be on all GSA's (They bloody cost enough).
