As there is currently no Indian dealer in Scotland I was just on the Indian UK site looking for my nearest one and they list 19 official dealers that Includes NI. So for a comparison I did the same for HD and again there are now only 19 listed.

Now I know a few Indian dealers have gone but never realised that HD now had so few. You would think this will potentially even the stakes in sales figures across the two brands in a similar market place. Although Indian is no doubt still a lesser known brand. Interesting times.

Doubt it as people are to Harley brand loyal.
Would be nice to see a few more about.

KrazyHorse is still dealing with Indian. Long way from Scotland though.

But - just look at the number of thriving Harley independents and tuning shops….

Can’t argue with that; don’t know of any independent specialists / customisers or tuners of Indians. I know Moorespeed and Krazy Horse do their own custom stuff in house but they are official Indian dealerships.

There is very little aftermarket for these bikes but to be fair having owned both brands they do pretty much work out of the box and are pretty much sorted in stock form.

Also they have stopped supplying official tuning kits Stage 1 / 2 etc and big bore kits to Europe as it’s in breech of EU emissions regs. But guess there’s just not enough of them on the roads here for an independent to start developing kits for them.

Do Indians need tuning?
Ask Doc; I would have thought the Powerplus models (Challenger and Pursuit) have more than enough in stock form.

I have an early 111 Chief but bought it with a factory Stage 1 kit and it certainly out performed in all respects the HD Streetbob I was running at the same time.

I also have a newer 116 RM model in stock form and for the bulk and size of the bike it has plenty enough for me.

I guess there will always be people out there who want more.

I would say no it doesn't. More than enough even with two up loaded up there is plenty.
My Harley has stage two and been properly tuned at 2nd City customs but would say a lot of Harley lads would either get a stage 1 or two on purchasing one.
Would I do anything to the Indian if something was available probably not as its not needed. Only thing I changed was the tail pipes as I don’t like bikes that sound like sewing machines.

Meant to say, my HD was Stage 2 at the time and couldn’t compete with the Indian however I guess you can’t beat cubes. 111s are 1811cc as standard my stage 2 Streetbob was only 1690cc.

The newer 116s are marketed as 1890cc or 1901cc depending on where you look. If you do the maths 116 ci does work out at 1901cc which happens to be the year Indian was founded.

Above relates to the Thunderstroke air cooled lump not the water cooled Powerplus models. Have test ridden a Challenger but not owned one.

What’s this cleaning thing you speak of ????

Should it be 122” engine to see Gott when Indian was founded….again….🤣
Nah; it’s been resurrected so many times, to avoid confusion it’s easier just to stick with the original date😉

I find this procession of closures a bit sad.

Especially for the staff who most often work hard but are let down by poor management or sheer bad luck.
