Does the number plate extender work at stopping the shite,go over the rear of the bike??
Cheer's Mike.

Sorry but i disagree. Mine had one on when I bought it and at the time i thought that can't do much. But my buddy who doesn't have one his is noticeably more dirty than me when we've been out.

I've had the GSA for a month now and ridden nearly every day in all sorts of weather.
Having the new owner syndrome of keeping her looking tidy and reading the comments on here about paint trays and number plate extenders I expected the ar$e end to be covered in kak. However none of this so far.
I may have a dud though as it's been reliable, cleaner than expected at the back end and seems to run ok without the touratwat brochure thrown at it.
Pride before a fall............?

Sent from my tablet with spelling and grammar as if I'm on them.

The reason i asked was, down here in the MUDDY DEVON LANE'S.
when ever i go out,the ass of bike& topbox, IS ALLWAYS COVERED IN SHITE when i get back.

Mine's just the same and I've got a hugger and an extender fitted. The same applies to my 1150 too! :blast

PS I don't know if Somerset's roads are as shitty as Devon's but they're pretty shitty! :D

Even with a hugger fitted, the rear wheel shovel throws a lot of kak forwards. But taking it off throws the muck up and over. I made my number plate extender from aluminium. Very low cost looks original and it does work. Im sure a hugger that runs from the shock to the shovel with no gaps would work a lot better.

I'm in the process of launching an actual extended number plate with a 75mm/100mm extension which will be fitted with an auxiliary red led light (or without light if you'd prefer)

It'll be mate from black 5mm foamex which is very strong yet very light.

Purchasers will then essentially get a new numberplate with whatever lettering / logo they want at the bottom, a rear fender extender and a rear auxiliary LED light all in one!

I've not posted anything up until now as I'm waiting for the first couple of samples but seeing as this thread has popped up I thought I'd test the water :thumb

liking that idea as i have a square car number plate which is big but still get crap on the top box

any recommends on rear huggers as fed up with cleaning behind the shock

I've got the Touratw@ on mine & it does'nt seem to make much difference to be honest, mate's got a Wunderlich on his & his arse stays cleaner than mine :ronno :eek :D

I've found the best combo on my '08 GSA is a Mudsling and Wunderlich Extender for the rear number plate. I removed the OEM shock cover as this snagged the Mudsling and leaves the shock easier to clean. I have also removed the rear TUV bumper thingy as I find that just makes matters worse. Overall this reduced the amount of spray I got up my back/legs considerably and if I'm feeling kind to a pillion I will add my Givi topbox which reduces it further. Unless the back end is fully converted to that of a pure road bike then I don't think its possible to reduce the effect any further and if thats a worry then I would suggest buying a non-Adventure type bike.

I made one up from aluminium but it didn't work too well - then I added a Touratech sticker and it works brilliantly

Mudsling....Mudsling....and again, Mudsling:thumby:

I have a mudsling and a Cymarc number plate extender and it keeps the worst of the shit of my rear light and the lock on my topbox.
