I have a heated waistcoat with a cigarette lighter male connector. If I remove the red tip it reveals what appears to be the right male connector for the female accessory port on the WC GS. Is that correct?

I dont know but I am doubtful that the socket to which you refer is allowed by the canbus to give you sufficient amps

the socket should be fine as the waistcoat is only 5 amps/12V

i just want to get the connection set up as neatly as possible and ideally want to use the accessory socket rather than the battery

the red tip twists off the cigarette lighter like it's meant to if you need to.

I'm unclear what sized plug your jacket has but if it's not the right size to fit the bike's plug, you could change it to a 'Hella' plug which will fit.

I thought that the canbus would not allow 5 amps through the aux socket

I could be wrong but it will be marginal either way

wouldnt you be better putting an in line fused direct from the battery

The standard fitment BMW 12v aux socket will drive a heated waistcoat.

Hi, yes, pull the red tip off to use in the dash socket, it should be ok on the can us but it occasionally may trip depending on the sensitivity of the waistcoat/bike as its on the limit, if I were you I would try it first but I recommend a simple fused connector from the battery.

What you have is quite common with the red cap on its a standard cigarette lighter plug which will fit a standard cigarette lighter socket. Removing the red cap exposes a male din plug which will plug in to your socket which is a female din socket.
