I don't know whether anyone can help, but I've decided I need a screen extension for my '08 GSA and have been looking at the Wunderlich and the Touratech options.

Does anyone have any strong views on which is best? The TT one looks bulky and I don't understand how it could be so secure that it couldn't be slid off with enough force. Wunderlich looks neat, is cheaper but clamp does not come down the screen so far, so does that give scope for more shake? Are there any other makes? How important is it to be able to lock it on?

Any views welcome.

take a look at the threads in the 650 800 twins section under: Alternative screen options :thumb

the ones your talking about have been talked to death there as well as home made options, etc etc

well ive got a non lockable touratwat one on my 08gsa,

fits very securley, all the little mounting feet are adjustable so fits very well, plus it actually makes a difference, for me anyway, turbulence much reduced.

I have a Laminar Lip and at 6'3" it works for me. You can either use dual lock or they will supply nylon bolts which I have used. Take a look at www.heroblobs.co.uk and no I have no connection to the company.

not much use

For what it's worth, tried the Touratech 'clip-on' on my 1200GS and couldn't get used to a hunk of metal right at my eye line. My eyes wanted to focus on it and I'd think whoa what's that right in front of me, a car? Got an extended screen from Nippy's and have never looked back (not literally....). Get a bigger screen and have done with it; the clip-ons ain't cheap either.

Hi,
I have just fitted a Wunderlich screen extention to my 2008GSA.
I am 6'3'' and have a high seat fitted.
Aside from the extra wind protection on the GSA over my previous GS which was fitted with an MRA Vario, I noticed an improvement in a reduction of bufferting with extention.
It is well made and easily fitted and well worth considering.

The touratech spoiler transformed my bike for me. I'm over 6 foot tall and before I fitted it the buffetting was hitting the top of me lid and was quite uncomfortable. I rode down to TT (about 120 miles), purchased it, fitted it and rode home - It was superb. For me anyway. A lot of people give them a slagging because it doesn't suit them.

I paid the extra 20 quid or so for the locking one - 20 quid i'm willing to risk to stop opportunistic theiving scum from swiping it swiftly.

Regarding the clamp being in you eyeline, yes it is, but moving yer head to either side sorts that out!

I'd see if someone local to you would lend it you for a day and try it out.

Touratech one for me. No buffeting and I can ride with the visor up at 100mph plus no problem:augie. I won't ride without it now.

You soon get used to it in your eyeline and it's not intrusive.

+10 Transformed the ride for me. 6'2", seat in high position. The clamp is out of my view. If I look at the clamp location, I am not riding the bike properly. Won't come off with the little rubbers knobs and the lip of the windshield. Get the locking version.

See below, perfect height.

Ditto for me on the GSA. I'm 6'1 with a 31'' leg so I sit quite tall on the bike. I have a standard GS seat [slightly lower than GSA seat] and my eyeline is still above the top of the screen and it works perfectly for me.

Some great feedback guys - thanks a lot.

I prefer the idea of a lockable one but the size of the bracket was putting me off. Maybe when the weather improves I'll Womble down to TT and see if they'd let me take one for a spin.

Another thumbs up for the Tonkatech clip on jobbie, used it for about 3 years on my standard 1200, works a treat.:thumb2

I did just that in the summer just gone. Took a Kahedo seat & the screen extension out for a "try out" - liked both enough to ride home somewhat the poorer. Very helpful company IMHO
