Nutty & Engineer are correct........

Picked up my 2016 GSA with gear shift assist thingy on Wednesday and absolutely love it:D. Have had 2 GS,s in the past and a 2010 twin cam GSA. Just part exchanged my Triumph Explorer 1200 and its like chalk and cheese, the GSA feels so much lighter than the Explorer, even when pulling it out of the garage. The gear shift assist is very addictive on the upshifts but needs a bit of practice i think when dropping down the gears, just slightly open the throttle and it slips in quite smoothly not even blipping the throttle. Not found the gears clunky at all.
Done 450 miles so far and i am very pleased with it:thumb.

Off to put some more miles on it :clap

WARNING.... cloud of Fairy Dust over parts of Yorkshire has tightwads reaching for and opening traditionally locked wallets.

Homing Pigeons off course and unable to navigate etc etc

SYMPTOMS lack of rational thought and an dramatic erosion of long held beliefs

CURE wait and it wont be long before a few outbreaks of heavy rain to wash all this nonsense away

JB FFS get a grip man !!!!

Excellent, crying with laughter

Definete difference

But........should you HAVE to is the question?

I've had many Guzzis and of course my old 1200GS for 10 years. All* need a 'technique' in order to perform clean gear changes and it's part of their character I guess. However, with the WC you seem to either get a good box that needs that 'technique' or an appalling box that just doesn't work as it should. You can make as many excuses as you like and you can ride around the problem as long as you're careful but there is no getting away from the fact that a WC gear box is a lottery.

* Actually, my 1100 Griso had an amazing box, as good if not better than my 1190 (and that's saying something!).

Just had my engine & gearbox swapped out under warranty due to Shite gearbox at 5.5k, now have the latest unit - its a peach! I have owned air heads / oil heads with no issues & ridden several LC's all with differing gearbox quality. I cant get my head around why they cant get a simple gearbox consistent & of good quality??? Later heavier crank engine definitely smoother by a mile! if your in the market for buying - ride the bike in question in slow traffic for at least 20 min - that's what shows the gearboxes in the worst light - 2nd to 3rd usually the worst change at low speed / revs
