NW200 2011

We had a great weekend:ChrisKelly - just not a great day of racing...........

We were drinking with a couple of guys on Friday night in the Harbour Bar - they had

come over from Norway to watch the racing. Shame they would have only

seen one race

+ one lap:(

No racing then my ferry was cancelled for 24 hours:(

Maybe it'll be the Ulster GP for me next year:nenau

Complete bummer....

I'm one of those that has paid for ferries/hotels/grandstand seats etc, but I don't blame the boys in charge for calling it a day, I think we all could see the way that the day was going......;)

There was more to my visit than just watching the races. I loved rattling 'round the lanes...Sort of enjoyed that rope (y) bridge, and some of the villages are stunning....Does anyone actually live in Glaslough ? It's TOO perfect.:bow....and I had a number of nights in The Crown/Robinson's/Brennan's in Belfast....

If it didn't rain then it wouldn't be so green..I'll take the outcome of race day 'on the chin'....

See you there next year......:thumb

Fair play J, hope to see you next year!:beerjug:

I know , this is gonnie go down like a lead Balloon , but isnt it
time for a bit of a re-think on the NW, too many old school .
On the Sunday , whilst in the Port the Conversation was all in that
general direction. The Numbers have been constantly falling this last few years.

Fair one Civil, but what to do, That is the question!?

Stop Screwing every penny out of those who come to watch

Charging a tenner to sit on the railway embankment when nothing has been done except hay bales at the bottom to prevent the bikes coming in If they want to charge then Cut some terraces to set your ass on and regrass it

Charge a tenner for the program (How much was it this year?) and get the message out there that the program helps pay the bills to allow them to run it!

IN these days of financial hardship It is difficult enough to stump up the money to fund the trip / days off etc without every charlatan screwing the last penny out of you

Regulate the burger stands and the stalls and get a "reasonable" price structure across them all and IF they don't agree then there are people out there who would love the patch for a few days. I suspect strongly that prices go up (in cafes and catering places and pubs) for that fortnight and go back down shortly after the visitors are gone

Fans will only be fans if they are treated with respect and do not go away feeling ripped of

When they started charging for the bank about 5 years ago is when I lost heart in the Famous "Family day out at the races"!

I know its easy to sit on the Fence ,, But Racing has Moved on from
the days ,when people were happy with whats on offer at the NW.
It has a Very Spefic place in the Racing ""Market"" which should be
utilised Every year , year on year.
The Local Business community seem to have lost touche with the
organisation / ional people .
There needs to be a " new " marketed NW , from the Ground up..
I do not see the point of "race fans" organising what should be a "Business Placed Management organisation".
To Win in any Business , you have to "At very least" offer Better than your competitor / s.
The wee Kleek , that IS the NW currently has to go . For a Start.

I Just wanna Drive my Bus around the track on Race day ,
but from my wee Bus mauns angle i can see lots to do to bring
"Road Racing NW back to where it should be , the Ultimate Race week.

Stop Screwing every penny out of those who come to watch
"!

Jay , the orgainsation needs to Charge.
But .
Charge in a way and For "Whatever" in a way that people
dont mind paying.
The base product is brilliant , bar none.. Just needs better
selling.

!

I have made my position clear earlier in this thread, but I've got to agree with this statement....

There was a burger & chips etc stall near the start/finish (coast road outfield entertainment area.....noisy Hondas) that didn't display any sort of a price list....It was a clear 'charge what you think you can get away with operation' I didn't buy anything, but probably would have done if they had displayed a price.

Those days ARE over....
