want to stay at oban in june this year four 2 knights not bean to scotland befour has it got cheap b.b digs and is thear good biking roads up thear it will be just me and a mate are the roads still cobbles and gas lamps

I couldn't agree more. Oban and the GS go together like Brad and Angelina. I needed all of the capabilities of my GS to maximise enjoyment of the stunning roads from Inverary to Oban and then Oban to Fort Augustus. I stayed at the Alltavona Guest House (thanks to the MCN Welcome book) which has a great location on the prom and is just a short walk to the town.

you got to be kidding , have you not heard about the place they call scotland, just made for a GS and bike touring, just made for bike touring ...
make sure you take the road across rannoch moor and down thro glencoe, just awesome. You will drop down glencoe past the fantastic buachaille etive mor standing at the head of glencoe

If you can, stay at the famous clachaig Inn in glencoe, get yourself in the boots bar for some beers and enjoy some great scottish local bandswww.clachaig.com/p/v/the-bars/

I suppose if you've not been before, Oban is a good place to start, every other hen shed is a b & b... but everything is much much better further north...but if you are on a 1200, I suppose you are nearer help in Oban.

I'd agree about Oban - I've never found too many places to eat there.

THe coffee stop and restaurant at Castle Stalker View, to the north however - is great.

The Chentlemen riders of the 1200 will be heading to Eusk on the north pier, or perhaps the Seafood Temple?

Upmarket establishments both ,who don't cater to the likes of 1150 owners and others from the lower social orders.

The Kitchen Garden - over the road from where bikes park on the front, has a great wee cafe upstairs where you can get a good coffee to go. The wee chipper just opposite on the left is one of the best two in town.
