I suppose I'm going to get thrown off this forum for blasphemy, because I've just bought a 1200RT. Me and Grunhilda tied the knot on Thursday afternoon, and with a cursory slap on the arse and "Carry all my luggage, Bitch", wobbled off home.
Next day, set off to Wales to get the turgid business of running in out of the way. Loads of hilly twisties and gearbox work, just what the doctor ordered. Gloomy, showery weather meant no cutting edge photo opportunities, but you know what the things look like anyway.
Things are going fine so far, and I'm getting used to the subtle differences that the ESA makes. (Especially as I had yet to read the manual and realise that for spring preload as well as damping can only be done at a standstill). I was quite impressed with the fuel consumption - the 'Pootah reckoned when I got home that I'd done 221 miles since my last fill up and could go on a further 112 miles before panic should set in. Average mpg logged at 58.8. That's country roads and towns, and cruising at around 85 - no motorway stuff to get the average up either. Most bikes I own I get around 45 mpg, a GS1150 was a bit better, and a Fireblade was the worst. Mind you I managed to get 70 mpg out of a Ducati 916 when I followed a Triumph and a Norton to Wales once, but that's another story.

Nice machine
I personally like the 1200RT though a lot hated it when it first came out. Would certainly consider one in the future and why should you be thrown off the forum its still got a boxer engine and the spirit of the GS still lives within you.:)
