Odd electrical canister fixed to the airbox - what is it?

Whats this thing?



Had a look in the haynes manual wiring diagrams and nothing jumped out at me as fitting the description.

The bike was first registered to BMW when new if that makes any difference.

Fitted to an 2002 single spark.

It's the plug to connect to BMW computer to read faults etc etc from ECU.

Indeed - plugs into a 911 diagnostic tool to read faults

Re-maps (Hilltop) can be done via that 'OBD' connector, too.
