Funny thing, since having the bev. box bearings re-newed (a couple of weeks ago), on the odd descent, most noticeable in 3rd or 4th gear, I get an intermittant vibration through the pegs, a similar sort of frequency, but softer, to when the ABS is activated.
(brakes are fine, just trying to describe this. And struggling)

I have re-newed the gear box oil since the above, and nothing odd about stuff that came out. Everything works fine.

Bit concerned as headed (I hope!) to GB next week.:rob

Any ideas?

Sounds like the drive shaft to me.
When you assembled the bevel box back to the swing arm frame did you check that the universal joints are "in line"?

quote from the 1150GS repair manual
"The universal joints for universal shaft and rear
wheel drive must be installed in the same direction."

Just a thought....

Thanks Harry, 4 spanners (Haines Manual Scale) and above, tasks get done by a local independent BM garage. They replaced all bearings.

The firm has been there a long time and has a good name, I've returned my bike there and they'll strip it down and see what's gone wrong.

I had a look at the b. box oil and it wasn't exactly factory-fresh looking.
A sheen of silver colour on the oil and fur on the drain plug.

They've lent me an ex NL plod RT. What a good bike! 100k klicks more on it more than my GS, but it shifts of the bottom faster.

I'm heading to GB on Weds next week and they've promised it back before then. Best laid plans of mice and men..
