Oddessy Battery Fitment

Just fitted an Oddessy battery this morning on the ADV and I had real trouble rerouting the terminals,also on refitting the corbin seat it wont fit now and the original is a right pig to lock in.
The negative cable seems to stop the left hand guide from bottoming out? and the positive cable rerouted over the front by the tank stops the Corbin refitting.
Has anyone had similair problems?

The battery should come with specific instructions for cable re routing, and fitment so the seat does not make contact with the terminals.

my oddessy i fitted to my 06 1200 did not have any specific destructions,be very very careful its very easy to short out the cables,do a search on here about modifing the front seat bar,i think you remove it and fit some bolts to the outer guides to avoid any shorting issues,there is also a thead on adv rider giving a fairly comprehensive intructional,good luck

There have been a handfull of bike fires, one of which may be attributed to the seat height adjusting bar shorting across the battery terminals. This causes the battery to discharge at full capacity instantly, drawing massive amps and generating enormous heat.

You could wrap it in heatshrink or insulating tape as a temporary measure but ultimately you need to remove the bar and fit some individual pieces to each side of the seat adjuster instead eg some bolts or pieces of metal tube.

I made up a couple of short spacers on the lathe at work in stainless steel for this purpose when fitting my Odyssey (mostly to make space for my Autocom unit).

Thanks for that Adam have now rearranged the wiring differently to the supplied instructions have trimmed the finning on the battery casing and reinforcing on the airbox to allow the positive lead to exit under the negative lead more easily,also moved the copper mounting plate from the positive terminal to the negative one so that theres no chance that the seat bar can touch the terminal.
This allows both seats to fit.
