O'Doherty's, Enniskillen.

I have a mind to pick up some of their black bacon while I'm over.

Mr K - see when you're there, pick up some smoked fore rib of beef. I promise you will not be dissappointed. You may need to ring them first though a day or two in advance as it sells out very quickly. It is unreal!!!:

TBH all of the stuff in there is first class, black bacon burgers with stilton cheese as well!

There's a motorbike shop opposite it (Mc Nulty's) and it is beside the cenotaph where the enniskillen bomb was back in 1987. If anyone you ask does not know where O Doherty's is, all you have to ask is where the cenotaph is...Click on the following link and you will see O Doherty's butchers (witht the black sign) in the background behind the cenotaph...

Good luck and enjoy.

Also, if you are in the area, there is a fantastic ice cream shop called tickety moo a few miles out of Enniskillen, on a farm at Killadeas. They use their own jersey cows. Again, fantastic stuff. Definitely worth a visit for the ice cream, the experince of a real 'farm shop' and proximity to the Fermanagh Lakes. There's even a sea plane that you can get a run on on the way out to Tickety Moo from Enniskillen. See Tickety Moo's website:

Right gotta go now and raid the fridge....

What the maps don't show is at the back of shop is a car park, and in the north east corner of it is an alleyway where you can park the bike and get into the shop via the 'back door'. :augie
Marvellous meat. Always a struggle to leave without a couple of chickens, a rib or two of beef, some sausages, and of course the bacon...

After reading all about O'Dohertys here I had to call on Saturday when I was up that way. Nice shop alright with a great selection of meat as well as churneys, marinades, etc.
Managed to restrict myself to a couple of packets of Black Bacon, which isn't black at all ! Haven't had a chance to try it yet but it's vacuum packed so should be alright for a while. They'd none of the smoked fore rib of beef though :(

Here's the shop :

:agree
I had 2 of my lads with me and, in order to make them behave all the way up & while I was doing my stuff, I promised to take them there. And it was yummy. They both had bubblegum flavour while I had 2 sorbets - mango & passionfruit :drool and raspberry which was also nice but because the mango & passionfruit was quite tart the raspberry flavour was a bit 'lost'.

Jochen, what did ye start that for :drool
can we have an ice cream dash/black bacon dash instead of a fish dash in the summer can we pleeeeeeeeeeeeese :bounce1:bounce1:bounce1:bounce1

I've been getting orders for the bacon from blokes at work - maybe I'll need me top-box an'all....

:D

Yep you need to order that one - give them a ring a few days before the next time and you will not be dissappointed! Apparently the only place to retail it outside of the actual shop is Harrods...

Another good butchers is Seskinore Farm Meats about 20 mile from Enniskillen. Proper artisan farm shop set up with farm diversification funding - not as good a selection, but much better meat and quality than O Doherty's. If you time it well enough, you can get them at the farmer's market in Enniskillen, then hit O Doherty's on the same day...
