Ok, I have bought my shiny new Odyssey PC680 battery with its super fast cranking ability and the CTEK Multi XS3600 charger, which setting is it supposed to be ran on ?
My initial thought was the motorcycle symbol - for obvious reasons, but upon further study, maybe it should be the car mode ?
Help and advice much appreciatted before I blow myself up !

Cheers,

Rich.

Possible broken CTEK charger

I have been using a CTEK charger coupled directly to a new Odyssey battery on a newish R1200GS with great success up until a few weeks ago. I have been using it to trickle charge the battery should I be away for a few days and I have not had any problems with it. I normally set it to the motorbike symbol and leave it until it shows fully charged.
However, it appears to have developed a fault and no longer shows any of the battery status lights. I have tried connecting it to my car battery and still nothing shows except the power light. Of course, the charger is out of warranty!
Anyone else had this problem? Could I have broken it by setting it to the wrong symbol?

Nope, you can't (shouldn't be able to) break them by using wrong mode.
I also had a 3600 breaking down on me. Same symptoms. Upon opening the device I was a bit shocked seeing the poor soldering & assembly quality... :(

One small IC on the primary side had exploded beyond identification. I called the manufacturer and complained. It was extremely sparsely used, and still within the two years warranty, but the receipt was gone...

The were eager to see what was wrong with it, so I sent it to them. Four days later I had a new unit in my mailbox.

CTEK charger broken

Interesting that you were offered a two year guarantee. I was only offered a year via the UK company, Motor Works.
I have tried to contact CTEK and have had no reply to my emails. I may take it apart and see what's inside, but will probably do more damage to it in the process. I am now in need of a working charger as the bike is only just managing to turn over, and I have a feeling that it will fail on me in the very near future!
