OE spot light kit question.

Has anyone taken a OE spotlight kit from a 1200 w/c gs and transferred them on to a 1250 gs?

my stealer did it for free when i changed to the 1250.

I have fitted some from a 1200 to my 1250 without problem

I did have a dealer say that they weren't compatible,but it didn't ring quite right.
