OEM adventure fog/auxiliary light disassembly

A i have pair of these that need a little tlc. Is it possible to disassemble them? I can only see how to remove the bulb and even that is a PIA.
I've tried searching here but no luck

My advise would be to sell them on and fit something else, they were poo from brand new.

There are so many more better choices now and much better fitting solutions, speak to Les Wassall of this parish.

They are crap.

That said, what appears to be a removable cowl on top is securely glued in place. I can see no other disassembly to do. A good design would have had a removeable sacrificial mount, as they are made of chocolate and break if you look at them hard...

The mounts, though, are excellent and I have employed them to hold some LED lamps on, via a custom bracket courtesy of Chad of this parish...

Thanks Mike. Clearly we're thinking the dame way as I bought them primarily for the brackets which I kinda like. Plan is to mount another light in place of the original. However, I thought maybe I'd take a look at how they are but in closer inspection it seems amazing they are constructed as they are, esorcismi considering their cost originally!

If they're glued maybe I can get them into the oven (not the kitchen oven, a proper controlled oven) I can see if I can persuade the two halves apart. Not sure why I'm bothering but it seems maddening to be beaten so easily!

All you'll succeed in doing is removing the cover - there's nothing underneath, it doesn't split the lamp case. I think you'd be better off trying to unglue the lens from the front - I'd guess that's how they're assembled...

Mike. I was thinking the same. I'm inclined to give it a go because I hadn't really intended to use the lights, rather the brackets.

And Flipfly. You're right, there's loads of better options out there and I too was thinking first of running lights rather than some kind of flood light. But thanks for reminding me of Les. He supplied my HID set up but I hadn't thought to speak with him about LEDs.

I like it! Those large LEDs look very purposeful! As does their mounting. how have you mounted the little lights? They're seen to be floating in your image?!

I'm just venturing into the additional lighting story. I also bought a loom and some small spots from a member on here so the loom will save me a load of faffing around and give me a quick start. But I can see I'm going to end up with a separate fuse box as I want to power the sat nav later too. I still like the oem brackets so they're definitely going to stay but I'm going to contact Les...
