Grateful if someone could confirm the correct OEM pads for front and rear? Are they sintered at the front and organic on the rear?

Don't know about how they were when it left the factory, but my front are Brembo 07BB38.SA (Sintered) - very snazzy red pads. Rears are Brembo 07BB03.35 (Ceramic).

As a matter of interest what if anything is the difference between OEM BMW (Brembo) rear pads part nos 34218562163 and Brembo's own branded sintered rear pads , other than the fact that the latter are painted red and cost less than £30 rather than £75 for the BMW branded stuff.

Dealer reckons that the OEM pads are thicker and will last longer .......... ah, but you can buy two sets of Brembo for the price of one OEM , are they really that much thicker ?

Dealer counters with OEM pads are matched to the disc material to prevent undue disc wear............. surely Brembo would not formulate two separate sintered pad materials for the same application ?

Any thoughts ?

Not a WC, but a 1150 GSA

Needing some front pads for a non ABS bike - BMW Brembo pads were £142 for a front set and are organic, carbon cermaic and not sintered

I bought the Brembo ones, carbon ceramic from Motorworks for £50 for a front set and they look the same, as the BMW ones (the main dealer showed me a brand new BMW set on the shelf)

I think it's 'badge engineering' from BMW

Well did a bit of digging today and the likes of ebc and ferodo rear pads are 7.6mm thick including the backing plate , Brembo own branded pads are 7.7mm thick including backing plate .

Now to find out what OEM pads are , the reason it came to light was during the service a vehicle health check showed the rear pads ( ebc with less that 2000 miles covered ) were 70% worn according to BMW specs

The 2013 GSW service manual (my copy is from 2013, not updated since) specifies the rear material as organic (front is sintered), same as previous model GS. I use OEM pads on the rear to keep from wearing the rotor faster than the fronts.

Dealers say spec of rear pads on the GSA WC are sintered same as the front and the originals I took out were sintered

As I haven't taken mine out, how can you identify the difference between organic and sintered ? Maybe someone could post photos, thanks.

Whilst I have asked the dealer to change them at the 6000 service I will buy some new after market for stock and do them myself before the 12000 service, me thinks

As per OEM BMW website the part number for the K51 GSA rear pads clearly state that they are sintered

From the Brembo website parts selector they recommend

07BB38.84 Sintered - Front

07BB03.59 Sintered - Rear

What difference does it make ? Do sintered pads cool quicker (guess) why not go for Ceramic ? I ride my bike only on the road, so my requirements are braking efficiency or stopping performance followed by life. I can cope with changing them more regularly than the service intervals but I need them to work firstly and know what to replace them with myself when needed.

Is organic what replaced asbestos ?
