I might be one of the several people who asked this question but there are so many posts to see that I'm lost.

So the question is this. Is the Akropovic exhaust muffler (the one which is found in the BMW configurator) too loud or obnoxious vs the OEM muffler.
Coming form a Harley I know that exhausts saves lives (Sometimes), but still I do not want that loud noisy exhaust. And I never came across an Akropovic installed on a GSA to hear it in person.

What are your taughts?

The Akra is I little louder than OEM, a little deeper and slightly more pop's etc on rundown. But it's not what I'd call a loud noisy obnoxious exhaust. There are some baffles in it as standard.

I took the Baffles out of my Akra and did not think it was to loud and sounded much better that the original.
In my opinion of course.

I'd agree with this imho as well.
Not obnoxious by any means and gives it a slightly deeper grunt than the OEM stock exhaust end can.

nothing to gain from akra, except looks maybe, and 1 kg weight spend money on fuel, or if have lots cash buy Ducati very nice sound

What an interestingly strange comment to make given that three individuals have just noted their personal observations on the Akrapovic.....?!

As with all of these things (sound in this instance) it's very subjective but each to their own I guess :)

So is there any difference in bike performance at all ?

Not that I know of, no.
And especially not with the stock downpipes (read catalyst) being the main restriction in the OEM system.

not strange had one, sold one maybe you have one to sell now :D

It does make the engine sound a bit louder and deeper but that's pretty much it. No noticeable difference in performance. I have one and intend on keeping it :)

The deeper exhaust note could also be quite handy to help drown out a little of the 'mechanical clatter' from the left cylinder at tickover (once warm) on the 1250 engine.

I was pleased to see that the 1250 i booked a test ride on was fitted with an Akra as i was tempted to tick that option.
It sounds OK`ish as a bystander but the sound was very subdued when riding, although i do always wear ear plugs. It could not be considered loud at all.
I was pleased i didn`t spunk £880 on one as an option....
Sometimes it`s nice to have a quiet bike and just listen to the precision-engineered whir of a finely-tuned twin cylinder motor bicycle engine.......

Maybe you're just a bit deaf in a certain frequency range.... :nenau.

When I had just the Akrapovič can fitted to my LC, it certainly barked louder and deeper when fired up. Cue: much turning of heads in petrol stations when starting. However, I think that there was little if any performance improvement

Fitting the decat headers is another matter. Along with having the fuelling optimised there's a significant increase in power output and the bike feels very different.

The Akra eu3 is more free flowing, you can see straight through.
The Akra eu3 is a work of art.
The Akra eu3 has removable baffles, both, or just one via a screw.
The Akra is at least a kilo lighter.
The Akra looks right.
Second user ones can be purchased for around £400 to £500. Hold their value as they fit 2013 to current bikes.

I’ve had standard, Remus 8 and Akrapovic on my last 4 GS’s.
IMHO the standard is ok noise wise, but is minging.
The Remus is louder than the Akrapovic. It has a great sound on the change of gear when on the gas and pops & burbles nicely on the downshift.
The Akrapovic (with baffles in) hits the spot between the o/e and the Remus. That said looks are subjective, but I like the seamless construction and it wears well.

I have the downpipes and zaust on a 1250 . My wife says it's loud...it is just different to the stock zaust. The downpipes make a significant difference to performance, notably above say 5000rpm , as it breaths and catapults the bike forwards. So if zaust only it looks and sounds different. Add downpipes and acceleration performance is improved. But your bank account suffers.
