OEM footpegs R1150GSA

Folks, I'm having a severe senior moment here

When I got my GSA it had touratech footpegs fitted, I want to re-fit the OEM one's so I looked out the bit I got with the bike, I have

footpegs x2
springs x2

what I can't figure out is how the springs fit back into the foot plates in a way that spring back when the pegs get folded up

As far as I know it's the correct shape spring (a dog leg the curly bit and a straight bit)

this isn't rocket science and I should be able to work it out but

feel free to take the pish as I'm being a numpty
