OEM or aftermarket rear wheel speed sensor

Hi all, had the rear wheel speed sensor throw up codes / fault lights / dead speedo ( then miraculous reawakening) etc. It's going to be the sensor, so is there an appreciable difference between the £100+ motoworks item and the £15-£30 eBay ones? Thanks!

if it fits and works I'd go cheaper version - there is NOTHING sophisticated about them, its just a hall sensor with a budget IPC amplifier chip that's designed to die - likely find aftermarket is more reliable !!!

my merc had 4 genuine ABS sensors fitted when one of the originals gave up - they recco doing in axle pairs, and are known to be rubbish quality
but the replacements are dying fast (at 120 gbp plus each) I've had three give up inside 4 years and <20k miles - germans peddle junk these days

Just bought front and rear on eBay (OEM) for £44 the pair.

I had a rear fail last year so thought I’d keep them in stock just in case.

Keep an eye open for them secondhand, I got my last one on eBay too.

As far as I know if the rear fails then after a while it switches to the front one.
That sounds like what you are experiencing.

Designed to die rubbish again.
I'll agree things don't last forever,
My GSA on the other hand is still using its original sensors front and rear after 20 years and 156.000 miles.

To answer my own question, I bought an e-bay sensor, UK sourced but Chinese origin, which went in just fine, and has fixed all the speed sensor related problems. Didn't come with an o-ring, so the old one went back on as a temporary fix, new one of those coming from Motoworks and I'll do it all again.

I found a UK supplier of electrical connectors that are doing a pattern copy of the designed to fail £180 each Merc ones, for just 7 quid each !!!!!

....its all a giant rip off stealing the last of the money off the slaves as the world implodes

As far as I know if the rear fails then after a while it switches to the front one.
That sounds like what you are experiencing.

Not always, my sevoectomised 06 refused to switch to the front ,

It was also a sign my rear hub was fubarred

Once the hub was rebuilt the abs fault never came back
