I'm hoping to organise an off road day with Gaz in the Peak District on Wednesday 23rd December. There needs to be 3 people so if anyone is interested please let me know.

It's £165 (each) all in, including bike, lunch etc (see ABW website for details).

What level of experience are you at...I have been pointed to them when I asked about learning to ride off road. I am a total clown off road though. Rigid with fear.

I could be up for that, been a while since I've been out and looked at riding with Gaz before but never committed.

I've managed to progress from the red nose and long boots but still no expert.

Will check with SWMBO but I think day-release should be ok.

Let me know.

Sandman.

I've been out twice with Gaz. First time I had no real off road experience.

The day's tuition is completely professional and starts at easy control and balance and gets on to riding lanes. All done at your pace.

It's a great day. Well worth it.

I have told Gaz that it will be at a 'novice level'. We have done an off road day before but it was a couple of years ago and we have a little experience of easy and dry big bike trails in Europe. I think Gaz will be flexible so if we progress faster than expected I'm sure he'll up the anti. Having said that I'm more than happy just to have the day out pottering around in the peak district.

If you're interested PM me your email and I'll send details.

Cheers

Ride report for the day

Well what a magic experience.

Dry and sunny all day in the middle of a week that was predominantly forecast for rain. We had a very enjoyable and highly recommended day with Gaz. Despite a mix up in communication, he even managed to sort out another bike at very late notice in the morning so that my wife could go along too. Having five of us to train could have been tricky but due to Gaz's great teaching ability he ensured everyone knew how to control their bikes and what was expected on each section of the day. My wife was amazed by what she managed to achieve and it gave her confidence in her own bike skills a massive boost. We were doing level one so covered balance, suspension, picking the bike up, staying safe on green lanes, how to stop and start on a steep hill (in both directions) and navigate water-filled ruts. The day finished with a continuous ride across three (or maybe it was four) great trails with a final sunset viewed from a hill overlooking the beautiful Chatsworth House valley. Gaz provided lunch in a great little biker friendly cafe called The Yonderman and also a great brew before and after the training. All five of us agreed it had been a fantastic experience and would do it again in a heartbeat. :clap
