Off road practice in south east Kent

Definitely am,

Whats the plan?, do you go out in the week or just at weekends?.

I'm in Pluckley, nr Ashford

PM me or respond back-thanks

Mark

During the week or weekends. I'm in Folkestone so not too far from you.

I have a map of the byways and have explored many of them during the summer. How much experience do you have off road?

I consider myself as a novice, but a good novice.

Just let me know when? I do a bit of off roading every day at the moment, so short notice is fine.

So let's organise a day "out and about". There are not that many summer days left this year so we will have to move quickly. I will assume that it must be a weekend.

The weather forecast says this Sunday will be a good day. Any takers? If not we could target a week this Sunday.

Nobblie tyres are recommended (it makes a massive difference).

The chances are that some of us will drop our bikes :rob

Recommend empty(ish) tanks to keep weight low.

All the lanes i know are 100% legal (byways) so there should be no trouble from the locals. The lanes are maked on this Council map http://extranet7.kent.gov.uk/explorekentgis/map.aspx

We should meet up just before hand for a coffee and to discuss routes / technical detail.

I was thinking of meeting at 10am at the Services J11 of the M20 (sign posted Hythe).

Thoughts? :bounce1

Rgrds,
Steve.

A week this Sunday would be good for me (that's the 12th September). Meeting place sound fine, too.

I have (sort of) knobblies - Continental Escapes.

Great link - I've ridden a couple of the ones near me, in fact a couple on Monday. Don't really go anywhere, and a bit tricky for me, especially as I was on my own, with no-one to help if I dropped it, and no-one to laugh with about it all. They were rocky tracks through woods, so limited run-off or options.

Looking forward to it... :bounce1

OK folk, Spiderman and myself have agreed to meetup for a rideout tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 09.30 !

We will meet at the M20 Junction 11 Services (signposted Hythe). There is a Starbucks there :)

Post here or PM me if you plan to join us and I will send you my mobile number.

We will leave at 09.40 sharp, so don't be late :thumb

If you can't make this, then I am OK to go riding Sunday 12th as in Robin's post.

Rgrds,
Steve.

Hope you're having/had a good time.

I've been told I have in-law duties next Sunday (13th). Believe me, I'd rather be riding my bike...

Another time, though.

How did you all get on? spotted this too late for Saturday meet but interested in later meets. Live at Ashford so local for me, have done a bit of green laning but still a novice really with loads to learn.

It was fun. Only myself and Spiderman went, but the notice was posted late. We did some very technical pieces in a local wooded area and then a ride over the top of the Northern Downs.

The only thing a would say... be prepared to drop ya bike !

I'm alway up for a bit of off roading (in fact, going out this afternoon for a blast). Just let me know if anyone want to come along.

Just found this tread. I'm on the Marsh at Dymchurch and would be up for some off road - on road ride outs.

I often ride the lanes in my local area (Folkestone). I'm practicing for adventure riding which i plan to do every year (don't want to be learning in some far off location).

So if anyone wants to join me, just suggest a date and the chances are I'll be free.

The only thing to avoid is wet conditions and mud. It really makes it difficult with my heavey f800gs :-(. Having said that, I do plan to slowly intro myself to mud over the winter.

I'm of out this afternoon at about 14:00 if anyone wants to come along :-)

I live in Ashford.
Last year I did a lot of green laning on my 990 Adventure around Canterbury/Ashford way. Have not been off road this year as work seems to be getting in the way but I am always up for a spin in the mud or out on the road.
I recognise the lanes in your pictures though :)

Cheers
Simon
