Does anyone have experience of owning an Ex Off Road School Bike? Particularly the R1200gs or F800Gs's. I spoke to a girl there the other day, and they are expecting more bikes in.

Would you buy one?

Would you spend money making it as mint as possible?

What do you think about selling one on in the future?

Any comments very much appreciated.

You will probably get a few answers on this thread, but if you want to know an awful lot more, try the search button- there have been many many threads over the years about ex O-road School bikes and you'll find all sorts of info.

Type it in, grab a beer and sit back for a read :thumb2

The search button is your friend :)

I've got one, it's fine yes it's got scratches etc. I'm a clumsy twat and have added a few more I did not buy it to go to tesco's. They come with warranty and if your nice about it the dealer will sort it all out.

My bike's been fine as I've said it crashes on a regular basis anyway, when it come to resale it's up to you to disclose it's history... you could just say it's had heavy use and leave it at that.

I was at Vines the other day, they still have a couple left 1200's, GSA's (instructor bikes which should have less scratches) 800's and a few 650. Not many so if you wanted one, take your cheque book. It's my opinion these bikes are what they are "used bikes" and so good value for money. The bike to buy is number 13 evertytime I've been nobody and I mean nobody wanted that one.:thumb2

Only one careful owner!

Seriously, I would consider one, might even look for an ex-school X-challenge myself later in the year.

They seem a good buy. Most people will sell them on for pretty much what they paid for them. They also won't tell the buyer that it was ex off road school.

They're cheap enough to buy a normal one now at around £3k

There's even an ex school 2008 on Ebay now for £1000 start

Has anyone who's got one got any horror stories (regarding off road school bikes, not the elmstreet type). I've read the one about the broken drive shaft, that nearly killed it's rider!

Thanks for all the replies so far.
