off road tyres

thoght you would say that they are a big trade off in the mud!!!!!!!

There are more aggresive treads and softer compounds, but that too is a trade off:D
Two rallys, lots of green lane practice, enudro land, hit the dirt, and road work no punctures and still good to go.

If I was going to throwing tyres away at the end of a rally then yes somthing else  but what.

can you still buy Mich. desert? I was looking for a 17' rear and apparently been discontinued..

Hope not was going to run them on my R100GS:( as 18" rear wont fit paraleaver... Hp runs a 18" woodies, but was planing on swopping a 17" in and out for differant gearing:nenau

what is every ones oppinion on tyres for rallys

If your running the 18" rear the Dunlop D908RR is also very good for the big twins...Very hard to find seems the only batch them in small numbers ...

I'm running Deserts at the moment as the other guys mention there very good but like you say not so good in muddy conditions ...But take loads of abuse on the long fireroad sections you always get in the UK rallys :D :thumb2

i had new tyres for rydale but they were scrap at the end, and on the last test i struggled for any grip at all!!!!!!!!!!!!! trying to gauge tyre choice?

Desert Discontinued

What’s going on at Michelin, that all stock HP2's and the BMW Twins out of the frame with tyres...... Gutted. what are the options now?

I don't think they have invented a tyre yet that would have decent grip for the last test after that shower :eek.
I have a Michelin T63 (replacement for the Baja?) on the back of my 640 which seems to be a reasonable comprimise. Don't know if it would be suitable for the HP2's though.

your proably right about the last test at the rydale. The dunlop looks like a good bet i will look into it. I need tyres for the beacons anyway
